The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Happy December! Minus the tree (which we plan on getting this upcoming weekend) our house is looking pretty Christmasy. This is a picture of my Christmas village. Since Friday Little Man has arranged and rearranged and rearranged it yet again. My first impulse was to tell him to stop, but it's so precious watching him stand there carefully placing the pieces and he finds the same magic in the soft glow from the little windows that I do, so I let him.

Mike and I bought our original pieces the first year we were married. The pieces and our three foot Charlie Brown fake tree were our Christmas additions to our hand me down decorations from our moms. It was so exciting to decorate our little apartment. We didn't have enough money to buy people for the village or any accessories for it (we probably shouldn't have bought the little starter set), so we had little snowmen ornaments set up in the empty space on the windowsill next to it. They were the village occupants. Since that Christmas seven years ago we have added something new to the village every year. It has become our own little family tradition.

I love the little village. In fact, every year when I set it up I think about how I want to live there. Maybe that's weird, but I do.

My kids broke out the advent calendars today and enjoyed a piece of chocolate while sitting on the kitchen floor. Oh, and remember these beauties? I am currently wearing them as I type curled up on the couch. I hope you all had a wonderful first day of December.

  1. I loved your Charlie Brown Christmas tree! We had two itty bitty ones too that I still use. I put one in the boys room and they go bonkers over it!! I love your houses, what a fun tradition!!
