Seven Years Old! (The real post)

This is the post I thought I posted yesterday, but somehow posted an earlier draft of it.
A couple weeks ago, we celebrated our sweet little girl turning seven!  My children's birthdays are always bittersweet for me; I love the chance to focus on and celebrate them, but it's also a reminder of how incredibly fast they are growing up which makes my mama heart a little sad.
On her actual birthday we had doughnuts for breakfast, went to swimming lessons, stayed for open swim, watched a movie, and then had both set of grandparents over for tacos, cake, and presents.
Our birthday girl.  I love that she wanted to wear her little badge around.  This has become a tradition in our family, although Carson decided this year that he was too old for such things (sniff sniff).
Elliot saw all the pictures I was taking of Abby and started cheesing it up for the camera to get in on the action.  He has got a haircut since this picture and although he looks mighty handsome in his big boy haircut, I miss the crazy baby hair.
Izzy and Rebecca modeling their new slippers.  They also got a pair of p.j.'s and some cool handmade clothes from Grandma R.  Abby said it was like their birthday also.
My kiddos are very lucky to have both sets of grandparents so close.

Abby's big present from us was a new bike.  Since learning to ride a two wheeler, she has been cruising on Carson's old blue bike.  It was getting too small for her and so we decided it was time to move her up to the next sized bike and get her the more "girly" bike that she had been requesting (although she was a pretty good sport about the hand me down). We had stored the bike at a neighbor's house so she had no idea.  After she had opened her other presents, we told her to close her eyes for one last surprise.
She was pretty excited!
On the new bike (although it isn't in the picture).  Mike found a purple mountain bike on craigslist that is really cute.  He really wants at least one of his kids to like mountain biking; he has taken Carson a few times and now that Abby has a bike I am excited for her to have a chance to go also.   It took her a couple of days to adjust to the larger frame and the handle bar brakes, but now she rides like a champ and it is so fun to see her gaining confidence on it.

The day after her birthday, we had a friend's party at our house.  Abby really wanted a "late night" party.  Everyone came in their p.j.'s with a favorite stuffed animal or toy.  We invited eight friends over for a craft, pizza, games, a movie, and ice cream sundaes.  All of  the girls were so sweet and I think it was the calmest birthday party we have ever had.
Eating pizza.

We played Headbanz, the Disney version, and the girls were so cute guessing and helping each other.  I love Alicia's face in this picture.
Everyone with their stuffed animals.  Our cute neighbor across the street brought that gigantic teddy bear which was a hit with all the kids and Mason and Elliot kept trying to climb on it.

Everybody went home with a teddy bear, their craft, some candy, and a couple of rings.  It was such a fun night.

We love our sweet Abby and are so grateful to have her in our family.  She is such a fun, determined, caring little girl and I am grateful everyday for the chance to be her mommy.
