Kiwi and Mason's Family Birthday Party

Since Kiwi and Mason's birthdays are only two weeks apart, we decided to do one big family party on a weekend in between their birthdays.  We invited grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins in the area and had everyone over for pizza and cake.
In trying to think of a party theme that both kids would enjoy we decided on a beach theme.
Treats included cupcakes with swimming teddy bears, nutter butter flip flops, Sweedish fish, and goldfish smores.

Luckily, the weather cooperated, and it was a perfect day to enjoy our meal outside.  Afterwards, the adults talked while the kids ran around a played.  This little birthday boy, however, had a one tracked mind.  Twice I found that he had snuck into the house and come away with a cupcake.

Finally, it was cupcake time and he was able to enjoy his.

Our families spoiled them with their gifts and both were so excited by the new things they got.  Mason was particularly fun to watch open his gifts.  He would get so excited to open each one (although I didn't get a very good picture to capture it).  My mom got him a Curious George shirt and he went crazy making monkey noises and jumping up and done.  He insisted on putting it on immediately and delightedly pointed at his "ew ew ah ah" repeatedly throughout the night.

After cupcakes and presents, some of the family stayed to watch the Olympics for a while before heading out.  It was a fun night and a great way to celebrate a very special two and five year old.
