Just another Monday
The other day we were having our weekly family night. After a brief lesson on praying and "folding our busy arms" (family prayer at our house is often Little Man starting on his knees and ending up somewhere on his stomach or back and with Kiwi pushing or poking Little Man, running around, or being held squirming and laughing and/or screaming in our arms). Since the lesson, prayers have been a little bit better, raising children is all about recognizing the little successes right?
We then played a game and decorated and ate cupcakes. Kiwi was sitting on Mike's lap with chocolate all over her face. I don't know how it started, but Mike was making her hand hit her head and saying, "Why are you hitting yourself?" This was making Kiwi laugh. Not a chuckle, but one of those deep belly ones that had her whole little body shaking with laughter. Every time he'd say it, she would laugh just as hard and Little Man would have cupcake crumbs shoot out of his mouth. This scene repeated itself several times. It was silly, it was messy, but was just one of those moments.
I have really come to enjoy Monday nights. With Mike's work schedule and getting his masters, our nights can get pretty hectic. I love knowing that on Mondays we are going to be spending it as a family. Sure the lesson is short and often noisy, there can be meltdowns during the activity, but we are spending time as a family. And I have to tell you, I think my family is pretty cool.
