Sleep Advice

Here is the best advice I could give for getting your kids to sleep in. Ready? It's not keeping them up late or rolling back their clock (which I admit to having done before). It's really quite simple. Just schedule something in the morning.
As soon as you think, "Sure my kids are always up by (insert time they are always up by) so a (insert activity such as dr. appt., playdate, etc.) would be no problem" one or more of your children will sleep in.
And then you will spend the morning walking that thin line of exactly how long can I let this child sleep before we will absolutely be late because as any parent knows you do not wake up a sleeping child until it's deemed absolutely necessary.
(This advice obviously given by a mother who has not had school age children besides an afternoon kindergartner. Next year is going to be a whole new experience for us).

  2. So True. I actually practiced this very thing multiple times this week. Plus Daylight savings time suddenly made my 9:00 doctors appointment at 8:00, which is really pushing it for us to be up and out the door.
